Dec 16, 2016 (newstodate): With the remainder of December still to be accounted for, Billund Airport is confident that 2016 will end up with a new record in cargo volumes.
So far, 2013 saw the largest volumes of cargo handled at Billund Airport, reaching 63,420 tonnes.
-This figures was exceeded already by December 14, so we can rather safely state that in 2016 our cargo volumes will set new records, says Jan Ditlevsen, Billund Airport VP Cargo and manager of Cargo Center Billund.
-I am confident that we will end around 65,000+ tonnes by end of year, with increases in both import and export volumes, reflecting the generally positive development in the economy says Mr Ditlevsen.
Among the positive news from Billund Airport in 2016 ranks the opening of Turkish Airlines' freighter services between Billund and Istanbul, with the first weekly rotation from April 10, 2016 and the addition of a second weekly flight from November 2016.
