Dec 06, 2016 (newstodate): Sweden's Jonkoping Airport is seeing a sustained growth in total cargo volumes in January-November 2016.
A total of 3,751 tonnes was handled at the airport, where more than 80 percent of the volumes are now generated by the integrator traffic while mail volumes, earlier more then 70 percent of the total, are now down to less than 20 percent since Post Sweden's decision in 2012 to stop using the airport as a "mini-hub".
Overall, total cargo volumes are up five percent during the first 11 months of this year, with international cargo up nine percent and postal shipments down 11 percent, y-o-y.
In November 2016, alone, international cargo increased by 13 percent, and postal volumes were also up by five percent, y-o-y.
Expectations are that December will generate another boom in cargo as volumes usually top the 400 tonnes-mark.
