Dec 06, 2016 (newstodate): ATR has managed where several other aircraft manufacturers have failed: delivering ordered aircraft right on schedule.
On June 16, 2015, the Swedish carrier Braathens Aviation placed an order for new ATR aircraft, signing up for delivery of six ATR 72-600 aircraft, with options for a further 10 aircraft.
On December 15, 2015, Braathens Aviation signed a supplementary contact with ATR for more new ATR-72-600 aircraft by activating four of the options, bringing the fleet of new aircraft to nine, operated by the group's subsidiary airline Braathens Regional Airlines, now branded BRA.
"The nine aircraft will be delivered in 2016, replacing the aging Saab 2000 and, in a second step, ATR 72-500 aircraft", the news read at the time. And this is exactly what is happening.
BRA thus took delivery of the 8th aircraft on December 5, 2016 - and the last and 9th aircraft is now slated for delivery before the end of this month.
At the same time, Braathens Regional in March 2016 entrusted Skyworld Aviation with the task of re-marketing all of its five ATR 72-500 and seven of its 12 Saab 2000 aircraft owned by owned by Swedish lessor Erik Thun AB.
Since February 29, 2016, all airlines earlier trading under the names of Malmo Aviation, Blekingeflyg, Flysmaland, Golden Air, Gotlandsflyg, Kalmarflyg, Kullaflyg and Sundsvallsflyg are branded as BRA, earlier Braathens Regional Airlines.
