Dec 13, 2016 (newstodate): A high-level delegation from Airbus is now in Iran to negotiate a finalization of the tentative aircraft orders announced in May 2016.
In September 2016 Iran's Deputy Minister of Transported said in an interview that after several rounds of negotiations, Iran Air and Airbus had reached agreement on a final price for the 118 aircraft, the financing plan and transaction method.
In November 2016, Airbus was granted its second export license from the US Treasury Departments Office of Foreign Assets Control to export aircraft to Iran, after having in September 2016, landed an initial OFAC license for exporting 17 A320 and A330 aircraft of the total 118 aircraft signed with Iran.
The second license will allow Airbus to sell a total of 106 aircraft.
The delivery scheme comprises five Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft in 2016, together with three ATR72-600 aircraft.
This will be followed by 14 more aircraft in 2017, and by 2024 all 45 A320, 45 A330, 16 A350 and 12 A380, expected to be firmed up, would be delivered.
The first ATR delivery was slated for November 2016, and all of the 20 aircraft ordered would be delivered by 2020.
Iran Air has also secured options for a further 20 ATR72-600 aircraft that are expected to be confirmed in 2021.
