Nov 08, 2016 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways has decided to expand its long-haul fleet with more Boeing 787 aircraft.
The carrier took delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 aircraft on August 31, 2016, with the second delivered on November 5, and the carrier has now placed an order for another three aircraft of the larger type, the Boeing 787-9.
The first two aircraft will now enter commercial service on routes from Tashkent to Dubai, Delhi, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Almaty and Moscow.
In the long-haul fleet are also nine Boeing 767, and six Boeing 757 aircraft.
The first CIS customer was Azerbaijan Airlines that ordered three Boeing 787-8 and two 787-9 aircraft, followed by Uzbekistan Airways that placed orders in 2008 for two Boeing 787 aircraft.
