Nov 28, 2016 (newstodate): The UK/Swedish carrier West Atlantic's contract, published in October, with Royal Mail calls for additional aircraft capacity.
The five-year exclusive contract with Royal Mail for operation of their air network above eight tonnes will commence by early 2017, and build up through the first half of the year.
The contract includes the operation of nine Boeing 737 and three ATP freighters.
To meet the requirements on capacity, West Atlantic will need to increase its Boeing 737 freighter fleet by another six aircraft, adding to the existing fleet comprising 11 aircraft of this type.
The organizational restructuring of West Atlantic's two operating units is now complete, with the Swedish AOC operating ATP, Boeing 767 and CRJ aircraft, and the UK AOC operating the Boeing 737 aircraft.
