Nov 03, 2016 (newstodate): Singapore Airline Cargo's decision to pull out its freighter services from the end of this year and reducing frequency with immediate effect marks the end of an era at Copenhagen Airport.
The carrier has been online with freighters to Scandinavia since the 90ies, sticking to its strategy of making Copenhagen Airport its hub in Scandinavia, with Kim Irmov as Singapore Airlines Cargo regional manager Nordic and Baltic region from 2001 till 2012.
In 2001, Singapore Airlines Cargo operated two weekly freighters in addition to two weekly passenger flights.
Capacity was continuously expanded, peaking in 2006-07 with no less than 8 weekly freighters including five to Singapore via various en-route destinations as well as three freighters routed from Singapore via Copenhagen Airport to Chicago.
Since February 1, 2009, Singapore Airlines Cargo has been handled by WFS.
