Nov 09, 2016 (newstodate): With a drop in October 2016 by 20 percent, y-o-y, cargo volumes continue to decrease at Estonia's Tallinn Airport.
A total of 1,112 tonnes was handled at the airport, including 949 tonnes of cargo and 163 tonnes of mail.
During January-October 2016 the airport has thus been handling 10.616 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 20.9 percent, y-o-y.
Despite the negative figures, Tallinn Airport remains upbeat about its future in the cargo market, as reported by newstodate in talks with Tallinn Airport's Head of International and Public Relations earlier this month.
-One very promising case is the cooperation between Estonian Post and S.F. Express in the Post11 venture that is already yielding results. Tallinn Airport is currently seeing two to three weekly freighters carrying e-commodities from China for distribution via Tallinn Airport to markets the region, and with the forthcoming boom this November, flights may go up to one or two per day, said Priit Koff.
So far, the freighter operations mentioned by Mr Koff have had little impact on the cargo figures reported by Tallinn Airport.
