Nov 24, 2016 (newstodate): Russian airlines will have to look to domestic and CIS traffic figures to seek encouragement in 2016.
In October, Russian airlines saw growth in the CIS traffic for the first time in 2016, marked by an increase by 1.7 percent, y-o-y, in passenger figures at 587,000.
In September, August and July 2016 the number of passengers on these routes dropped by 10.1, 18.4 and 19 percent, respectively.
By contrast, passenger traffic on routes between Russia and countries outside the CIS decreased by 2.7 percent in October, to 2.5 million passengers.
In September, August and July 2016, the figures were down by 16.4, 26.9 and 27.0 percent, respectively.
Finally, domestic traffic where Russian carriers saw the total number of passengers increasing in October 2016 for the first time in many months, up four percent, y-o-y.
