Nov 28, 2016 (newstodate): Avinor has published plans for construction of a new seafood airfreight center at Oslo Airport.
A feasibility study by Avinor in cooperation with the industry has resulted in plans for new center comprising a range of hi-tech tailored and value-adding facilities making the planned center world-leading in its scope and size.
In today's situation, Norway's seafood exports are around 600 tonnes per day, but only some 30 percent are lifted by air directly out of Oslo, despite the growing freighter traffic.
The bulk of the volumes is thus transported by trucks into other airports for uplift resulting in loss of shelf-life and incurring also extra costs along the road.
Avinor is thus prepared to allocate land at the airport for the industries' stakeholders to build facilities within the framework of a seafood airfreight center.
