Nov 02, 2016 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport is gaining momentum in handling of cargo volumes in 2016.
The latest statistics from Billund Airport cites a 15.3 percent growth in volumes in October 2016, compared to Oct 2015.
A total of 6,351 tonnes of cargo was thus handled in October, including 2,105 tonnes of imports, up 15.2 percent, y-o-y, and 4,246 tonnes of exports, also up by 15.4 percent.
Most significantly, import volumes are thus also rising after a prolonged period of stagnation reflecting a hesitant national economy, while exports have fared better through the year.
During the first 10 months of 2016, the airport has been handling 54,451 tonnes of cargo, up 3.1 percent, y-o-y, including 19,255 tonnes of imports, 7.2 percent, and 35,196 tonnes of exports, up one percent.
The next monthly statistics covering November 2016 will reflect also the introduction of Turkish Cargo's second weekly call at Billund Airport with an Airbus A330-200 freighter.
