Nov 25, 2016 (newstodate): Russia's Far Eastern airport, Vladivostok International Airport is to have new owners.
By decree from the Russian president, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport in November 2008 gained a controlling stake in Vladivostok International Airport that was separated, earlier in 2008, from the group that also comprised the carrier Vladivostok Avia.
Now ownership is changing again as a consortium comprising the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Singapores Changi Airports International and Russia's Basic Element has signed the agreement to acquire Sheremetyevo International Airport's shares in Vladivostok International Airport.
In 2011, Vladivostok Airport became Russia's first Open Skies airport.
The airport has been granted a special status by the country's ministry of transport, allowing it to accept any carrier from any country to pick up and drop off passengers and cargo without bilateral agreements.
