Nov 11, 2016 (newstodate): While Avinor is remarkably effective in attracting freighter operators to Oslo Airport, the Norwegian capital is not alone in seeing all-cargo traffic.
As one example, Norway's Stavanger Sola Airport remains on the freighter map with a weekly call by Lufthansa Cargo, operating a weekly Boeing 777F freighter flying into Stavanger from Houston with imports, and continuing to Frankfurt after lifting Norwegian exports destined for destinations on the carrier's global network via Frankfurt Airport.
In contrast to the freighter operators at Oslo Airport, Lufthansa Cargo is however not focusing on the country's voluminous seafood exports, but is instead serving primarily the oil&gas industries that are centered on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Lufthansa Cargo freighter service through Stavanger was launched on November 8, 2014, and remains scheduled during this winter's program as well.
