Nov 28, 2016 (newstodate): After another successful year of operations, the Latvian ACMI and charter carrier SmartLynx Airlines is planning for continued growth i 2017.
In the fleet of SmartLynx now are 12 Airbus A320 aircraft and one A321, and plans are to take delivery of another two A320 and one A321 aircraft in 2017, and by 2018 the total number of aircraft will go further up to a total of 18.
Riga-based SmartLynx is also planning to expand its route network by adding new charter destinations in partnership with tour operators from Latvia, Estonia and other countries.
The main business segment remains the ACMI market that comprises over 80 percent of the total activities.
In 2016, a Netherlands-based investment fund became the owner of the company, thereby ensuring a greater financial capacity for fleet enlargement and expansion of its operations, becoming a collaboration partner of new European and Asian airlines in the field of ACMI.
