Nov 14, 2016 (newstodate): Latvia is keen to develop a strong role in e-trade logistics in cooperation with Chinese partners. But it will take time..
-We are definitely working hard on this, and are talking to several Chinese companies, including as earlier announced, Alibaba. But do not expect immediate results, says Arthurs Kokars, Riga Airport Advisor of the Board.
-We are focusing on setting up long-term relationships, rather than one-off projects, and this requires the parties to get to know each other and establish sustainable personal confidence.
-Right now, our focus is on developing the business environment here in Riga, including establishing an infrastructure in tune with customer needs, and there are really a number of interesting projects to work on. In the meantime we cannot reveal more concrete information.
-Riga has just been the meeting point for prime ministers in the 16+1 format and this have been a venue for a wide range of talks and negotiations. China is taking the lead in these meetings and has shown great interest in the potentials represented by Latvia, says Mr Kokars
