Nov 01, 2016 (newstodate): So far, the coming new airline under formation in Finland has experienced a turbulent birth process that has also contributed to delay the start of operations.
Only yesterday, Go! Aviation took leave of its second CEO, Riikka Oksanen who took office only from May 2016, and the seat is now held by Roope Kekalainen, Snr VP Operations, on a temporary basis.
-I will be acting as CEO for a six months period as we have decided to conduct a thorough search for our next CEO to lead us into the times ahead, says Mr Kekalainen.
-Go! Aviation has now signed up for lease of three Pilatus PC-12NG aircraft, the first of which will enter Finnish registers by the start of December, initially be put up for charter operations and commencing scheduled commercial services from January 2017.
-The second aircraft will be delivered in December 2016, while the time frame for delivery of the third aircraft is still being negotiated with the lessor, but it will reach us by February 2017, at the latest.
-So we will be starting out with two aircraft, first introducing flights between Kuopio and Helsinki, and then adding continuing flights between Helsinki and Tallinn, in Estonia.
-Expanding beyond that, flights to Bromma, in Sweden, will commence by spring 2017 as we will then have three aircraft in the fleet, and more flights in the Nordic region will be added by Autumn 2017.
-We will dedicate a fleet of six aircraft to Nordic operations, and the next phase of expansion will comprise flights from late in 2018 to new destinations in Central Europe, says Mr Kekalainen.
Go! Aviation obtained its AOC in February 2016 and was managed from the start by Jorma Kario, Go! Aviation's first CEO till May this year, and Roope Kekalainen.
