Nov 04, 2016 (newstodate): Germans with a taste for Russian luxury skiing resorts will now benefit from the start of a new air service between Berlin and Sochi Adler Airport.
With the first flight on January 8, 2017, and till February 26, 2017, the German leisure carrier Condor Airlines will offer a weekly rotation on the route with Airbus A320 aircraft, bringing tourists close to Sochi's mountainous resort Krasnaya Polyana, one of the venues of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, and also one of the Russian president Putin's favorite skiing resorts.
In October 2014, Sochi international airport became the third Russian airport to enjoy the Fifth Freedom of the air, or Open Skies regime, that will remain in effect until fall-winter season 2018-2019.
