Nov 08, 2016 (newstodate): Finnair noted a 5.6 percent increase in total cargo volumes carrier in October 2016, compared to last year.
A total of 13,358 tonnes of cargo was carried, including 12,204 tonnes on passenger flights, up 10.5 percent, and 1,254 tonnes on freighter flights, down 26 percent, y-o-y.
Volumes on the crucial Asian routes were up 16.8 percent, to 8,871 tonnes, while volumes on the N Atlantic routes dropped nine percent to 677 tonnes, and loads on European routes were slightly down by 0.9 percent to 2,420 tonnes.
During the first 10 months of this year, the carrier lifted a total of 123,174 tonnes, an increase by 14 percent, y-o-y, with Asian loads accruing to 77,792 tonnes, up 13.6 percent, while the European cargo loads increased by 22 percent to 21,737 tonnes.
As for loads on freighters, Finnair's total freight capacity included three weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels, operated by DHL, while the two weekly freighter flights to London with an Airbus A300-600 freighter aircraft from DHL Aviation set up in September 2015 in cooperation with IAG were replaced by regular A350 passenger aircraft connection to Heathrow from the first week of October.
