Nov 29, 2016 (newstodate): Denim Air proved a rather short adventure for Sky Greenland that has now fully disengaged itself from the ownership.
The Dutch carrier Denim Air, set up in 1996, had its AOC suspended by the aviation authorities on November 25, 2016, after seeing its two Fokker 100 aircraft arrested by the lessor Mass Lease and running into a growing debts pile threatening the air safety of its operations and the financial survival of the company that is now seeking ways of survival.
In January 2016, Denim Air was acquired by Sky Greenland's owner Gert Brask who has now sold his stake in the carrier that is reportedly to be taken over by a Dutch investor as part of the reconstruction efforts.
-Sky Greenland was operating on Denim Air's three AOCs covering Fokker 50, Fokker 100 and Embraer 145. Sky Greenland is now to seek a solution to the loss of these AOCs, but I am in the process of acquiring a fresh AOC from another party, covering Airbus A320 operations, says Mr Brask.
-Despite the turbulence leading up to the divorce from Denim Air, Sky Greenland is left with a viable strategy, a firm business plan and a sound financial basis to support the coming new operations to be rolled out from 2017, says Mr Brask.
