Nov 03, 2016 (newstodate): The Danish carrier BackBone Aviation has completed a reshuffling of the Board of Directors, and appointed a new Director of sales and marketing.
Bjarne Lastein, founder and owner of Backbone, is back as the new Chairman of the board that also comprises Jesper Prast Olsen and Einar Adalsteinsson.
At the same time, Mr Adalsteinsson has taken up the position as new Director of Sales and Marketing.
-With the new commitment from the owners of Backbone Aviation, exciting times are ahead for the company. We will be branching out further into the European Market, establishing ourselves as a provider of capacity provider for airlines, a one-stop charter solution for travel agencies, and as route developers for airlines and virtual carriers, says Mr Adalsteinsson.
-Also, for the first time, we will be establishing a cargo department within the company. We have already begun meetings with our customers, both new and existing, in order to promote our new strategy and commitment to them.
-A new side to the business will be to offer aircraft owners and leasing agencies the ability to place their aircraft under our AOC. This will enable them to keep their aircraft airworthy under the strict EU rules, as well as provide them with a possible income on their aircraft during intervals when the aircraft is awaiting a new owner or lessee. This will be done in partnership with international aircraft management firms, says Mr Adalsteinsson.
With the reorganization of the company, BlackBone Aviation opens a new chapter after a serious crisis earlier in 2016 with severe losses and other critical issues leading to a management reshuffle.
