Nov 23, 2016 (newstodate): Technically speaking, Airbus has now been granted its second export license from the US Treasury Departments Office of Foreign Assets Control to export aircraft to Iran.
In September 2016, Airbus landed an initial OFAC license for exporting 17 A320 and A330 aircraft of the total 118 aircraft signed with Iran.
The new second license will allow Airbus to sell a total of 106 aircraft.
The crux remains, however, an approval by the US Senate which may very well put a stop to the deal under the coming new US presidency.
The deal, signed in May 2016, comprises a total of 118 Airbus aircraft, announced in May 2016, including 12 A380, 21 A320ceo family, 24 A320neo family, 27 A330ceo family, 18 A330neo (-900), and 16 A350-1000 aircraft.
