Nov 29, 2016 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has now taken delivery of the first of 20 Bombardier CS300 aircraft ordered.
The hand-over ceremony was performed at Bombardier's plant in Montreal, and the aircraft is not being ferried to its future base at Riga Airport via an en-route stop at Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
airBaltic will officially present the aircraft at an event in Riga Airport on December 1, and it will then have its first work day at the office on December 14, 2016 as part of a series of familiarization flights pending the delivery of the following two aircraft also being readied for delivery probably before the end of this yer already.
Amsterdam has been picked as the first destination from Riga to be operated with the CS300 aircraft, and after this opening flight, airBaltic will introduce the CS300 on flights to Munich and Tallinn on December 15, Stockholm will see its first CS300 operation on December 16, with Helsinki on the list on December 17, 2016.
