Nov 29, 2016 (newstodate): Air India seems to keep the opening of a number of new routes in 2017 on the agenda as the carrier takes delivery of new aircraft.
In connection with the launch of Air India's coming new route from Delhi to Madrid by December 1, 2016, Indian media quote the carrier's Chairman of the Board as confirming plans for the opening of six new international routes in 2017.
One of these will be a route to Washington, but the route to Copenhagen, Denmark, is on the list as well, together with new flights to yet-unannounced African destinations.
On October 23, 2016, India's ambassador to Denmark, speaking to Danish tour operators and travel press on the occasion of a workshop in Copenhagen, also said that Air India is considering plans for opening flights between India and Denmark from Spring 2017.
And on June 30, 2016, hopes for Air India to start flights to Copenhagen were fueled as the Chairman revealed that plans were being drawn up to launch a Delhi-Madrid and a Delhi-Copenhagen service, with the introduction of Boeing 787 aircraft later in 2016.
In the fleet of Air India are now 21 Boeing 787 aircraft, two more will be delivered by the end of this year, and another four will follow by August 2018.
