Oct 31, 2016 (newstodate): WOW Air is growing its cargo capacity in line with its expansion of passenger services on a fleet of Airbus A330, A321 and A320 - and prospects are great.
-The airline has been expanding rapidly, not least into the North American markets being now online in Canada and the US at destinations including Boston, Baltimore, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto and Montreal, with New York Newark to be opened from November 25, 2016, and flights to Miami to be added from April 2017, says Robert Tomasson, Cargo Express, serving the carrier as main cargo GSSA provider.
-Volumes are also growing fast in Scandinavia where WOW Air is serving Copenhagen with daily flights, while Stockholm will be added from November 18, 2016, starting out with four weekly rotations in the winter schedule. No flights to Oslo are offered, but instead we are trucking much seafood into our other Scandinavian services.
-We have not so far been very active in Scandinavia with transit cargo through Keflavik, but this service will be added also shortly. We are offering tail-to-tail transit of cargo with only 1.5 hours handling at the airport, so it will become an attractive product for Scandinavian exporters as is already the case with exporters in Continental Europe where this service is already marketed.
-With effect from November 1, 2016, we have designated Proactive Airline Services as WOW Air cargo GSSA in the Nordic markets. We have been very well served by our current provider Cargo Care, but new opportunities are rising with Proactive Airlines Cargo that is also serving other airlines including Air Greenland and airBaltic where new synergies may be developed, says Mr Tomasson.
