Oct 04, 2016 (newstodate): Plans for the launch of new China-Lithuania freighter flights are still very much alive - but the start date of operations is still pending.
Originally, the twice-weekly service between Tianjin and Kaunas initiated by the Lithuanian transport company Hoptrans was scheduled to lift off on September 15, 2016, operated with Boeing 747-300F aircraft from the Belarus carrier transAVIAexport.
This was, however, not to be as the Belarus carrier has not obtained the pertinent Third Country Operator, TCO, authorization by the EU regulatory body EASA, required for operating scheduled services between Lithuania and China.
To benefit from the coming pre-Christmas boom in demand for uplift of e-commerce shipments from China and exports of perishables, seafood and dairy product from Europe, notably the Baltic and E European markets, Hoptrans is now focusing its efforts on finding a viable substitute for the Belarus freighter carrier.
