Oct 31, 2016 (newstodate): After years with Copenhagen Airport as its main Scandinavian freighter hub, Singapore Airlines Cargo is pulling its freighters out from Scandinavia by the turn of the year.
As a first move, Singapore Airlines is cutting one weekly freighter rotation between Copenhagen and Singapore, and closing down its online freighter services by the end of December 2016.
-The move is part of a strategic decision made at headquarter level in Singapore, focusing our European freighter operations instead on Amsterdam, Brussels and London, says Mathias von Elverfeldt, Singapore Airlines Cargo Regional Manager Switzerland, Scandinavia and Italy.
-This does not, however mean that we a leaving the Scandinavian markets. We are already now trucking extensively into our freighter hub at Amsterdam, and our over-all capacity in Scandinavia will remain largely untouched by the suspension of freighter flights, says Mr Elverfeldt.
Only few eyars ago, Singapore Airlines Cargo operated five weekly Boeing 747-400 freighters between Singapore and Copenhagen, using this airport as its hub for the Nordic region that earlier ranked among Singapore Airlines Cargo's European top-performers.
