Oct 06, 2016 (newstodate): Azur Air will be a new carrier, based in Germany and set up by two Turkish-owned Russian tour operators.
Behind the airline project are the Istanbul-based OTI Holding and the Russian tour operator Anex Tour that owns a charter airline Azur Air, several hotels and an incoming agency in Russia.
The partners are now present in the German leisure travel market with Anex Tour Germany, and an application has been filed with the German authorities for an AOC allowing for the launch of Azur Air Germany.
Based at Dusseldorf, the carrier will offer flights from Germany to a range of leisure markets including Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Dominican Republic and Cuba, while plans are to add flights to Thailand, Goa, Egypt and Dubai by the winter season 2017/18.
Azur Air Germany's flights are slated to start from April 2017 with a fleet of three Boeing 767-300 aircraft
