Oct 28, 2016 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is to launch an open skies experiment for airlines in connection with the Expo 2017 to be held June 10-September 10, 2017, in Astana.
At least till the end of this period, airlines may freely operate routes to and from Kazakhstan regardless of existing air services agreement or other limitations.
The country will analyze the experience gathered during this period as part of the basis for introducing a permanent open skies regime at a later date.
According to Kazakh media, airline including CSA and Austrian Airlines are already to benefit from the new situation, as are also Finnair and Air China and talks are going on with Hungarian and Poland.
In total, the Kazakh authorities expect to see at least five new carriers in 2017.
