Oct 25, 2016 (newstodate): The Estonian MRO provider Magnetic is on track with construction of its coming new dedicated paint hangar at Tallinn Airport.
The project that started earlier this year was first slated for commissioning by June 1, 2017, but Magnetic has now set a new date for launch of aircraft paint services at the new facility: October 12, 2017.
The new facility will enable Magnetic MRO to provide commercial and VIP standard painting services, increasing the area dedicated to painting facilities from 2,000 4,000 sq m.
The company will be able to perform up to four commercial or two VIP aircraft paintings per month using advanced aircraft painting technologies including Sherwin-Williams, AkzoNobel, PPG and Mankiewicz systems.
The first idea of a new own hangar dedicated to aircraft painting was shelved in August 2014, and Magnetic decided instead to start paint jobs in cooperation with UK partners Spraybooth Technology Ltd and Paint Services Group Ltd, to ensure rapid project deployment and confidence to perform the first full painting project in May 2015 in an existing, renovated hangar, rather than in a new dedicated hangar as earlier announced.
This decision was, however, reversed by the end of 2015 and design and planning for the new paint hangar was started.
