Oct 14, 2016 (newstodate): Emirates SkyCargo is now online with a weekly Boeing 777F freighter service from Oslo to Dubai with the first flight on October 11, 2016.
The new service is really a novelty as the carrier consolidated all Nordic freighter operations at Copenhagen Airport since July 1, 2014, making the airport also its preferred en-route technical stop for its freighter operations between Dubai and destinations in North America.
The freighter calling at Oslo Airport to pick up shipments of seafood for transfer via Dubai flies in from Amsterdam and proceeds to Dubai after the turn-around at Oslo Airport.
Emirates SkyCargo has allocated around 80 percent of the cargo capacity on the Boeing 777F aircraft to the Norwegian exporters.
-The weekly freighter service has been introduced to support and supplement the belly hold cargo capacity offered on our passenger flights from Oslo, says Hiran Perera, Emirates Senior Vice President, Cargo Planning & Freighters
-We continue to monitor the market- and should there be additional demand for capacity and if it is viable commercially, Emirates SkyCargo will consider frequency increases.
-However, Emirates SkyCargo remains committed to Copenhagen and the additional freighter service to Oslo, which is in response to our customer needs, does not impact our strategy for Copenhagen, Mr Perera says.
