Oct 07, 2016 (newstodate): The Danish/Icelandic charter and ACMI carrier Primera Air, now with its HQs at Riga, Latvia, is seeing a brisk growth in passenger volumes during the first eight months of this year.
A total of 562,500 passengers have boarded Primera Air's aircraft, an increase by 13.2 percent, y-o-y.
Also significant is the increase in direct passenger sales that have trebled over the period. In 2015 direct passenger sales accounted for five percent of the total volumes, reaching 25 percent in 2016, and the target for 2017 has now been set at 42 percent.
In 2014, the carrier went through a comprehensive restructuring, all Nordic activities were consolidated and the HQs were moved to Latvia, benefiting from rich sources of professional and cost-efficient manpower and a developed aviation infrastructure.
In 2016, Primera Air operates flights to 73 destinations in the world, of which seven routes are out of Iceland.
In the fleet are two Boeing 737-700 and six Boeing 737-800 aircraft, four of which are allocated to Denmark, Primera Air's largest market, and the carrier plans to add another two aircraft to the fleet in 2017.
