Oct 07, 2016 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier Amapola now has two Fokker 50 freighters with large cargo doors - but might like to have more.
-Right now we would probably not add more F50 with large cargo door, but there is definitely a market, says Franck Christensen, Amapola CEO.
-The real problem, however, is that there are no LCD kits available in the market as the Dutch/US company AircraftConversions has sold the exclusive rights for production of these kits to a company in Kenya, and this process is drawing out, lasting a year now.
-We would indeed look into more F50 conversions with large cargo doors if kits were available. We could either take in more converted aircraft, or we could acquire kits to convert some of our existing Fokker 50 aircraft ourselves with an eye for future sale.
-There is indeed a market for these freighter aircraft in several markets including Asia, Africa and other regions.
Amapola operates one of its two F50 LCD in the Swedish market, while the second aircraft operates on a long-term lease contract with ASL Airlines in Italy.
