Jan 04, 2016 (newstodate): The introduction from today of strict ID control by the Swedish authorities on all road and sea traffic from Denmark to fight off illegal immigrants is followed closely by operators of airfreight road feeder services as well.
-As of now, we have only had few trucks destined for destinations in Sweden after the control enforcement, but we are monitoring the situation closely based on reports from our drivers, says Martin Knudsen, Haugsted Aircargo Services Truck Supervisor.
-All our drivers hold valid EU driving licenses and are primarily Swedish, German and Polish nationals so I do not expect major problems. We need, however, more experience to know how the Swedish authorities will be handling the inspection of drivers and cargo vehicles before we can adapt to the situation.
-But of course, our main concern is primarily the time-sensitive traffic from Copenhagen to the Malmoe region across the Oeresund Strait where we must meet a deadline at 21:00 p.m. In the case of transports to other Swedish destinations we will easily catch up even if we might lose some time during the border crossing, says Mr Knudsen.
