Jan 21, 2016 (newstodate): After a sustained period with financial difficulties, the Dutch ACMI carrier Denim Air has found a new owner: Sky Greenland, formerly operating under the brand of Greenland Express.
Details on the future cooperation, or merger, between the two companies are not yet available. The actual sales process has been completed, and the juridical registration is currently being filed.
The two companies are, however, well-acquainted with each-other as Denim Air in 2014 operated flights between Greenland and Denmark with a Fokker 100 aircraft on behalf of Greenland Express for a brief period.
-Denim Air now has three AOCs covering Fokker 50, Fokker 100 and Embraer 145 and that is of course of interest for us. Time will show how we will proceed, but the Embraer 145 is currently operating for the French carrier Eastern Airways as an ongoing business, says Gert Brask, Sky Greenland.
-The two Fokker aircraft leased by Denim Air can be delivered back to their owner, and the Fokker 50 is actually now returning to Holland after the expiry of a UN contract in Sudan.
-My plan would be to introduce the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, currently the object of advanced negotiations between the Russian leasing company and Sky Greenland, on Denim Air's AOC at least until Greenland Express is granted an own AOC.
-As said, all further details will be settled soon, including the future company structure, the business plan and management issues, says Mr Brask.
