Jan 15, 2016 (newstodate): Ryanair is to heat up competition with Wizz Air in Central Europa with new plans for Romania.
The carrier plans to open up five new bases in Romania in the coming years, while operating flights today from Brussels into only one Romanian destination, Bucharest, opened up by the carrier in 2008.
As a first step, Ryanair has announced its decision to establish a new base at Timisoara Airport from November 2016, allocating one Boeing 737-700 aircraft to launch flights on seven new routes.
With the new routes, Ryanair will be offering direct services to six international markets in four European countries, in most cases in direct or indirect competition to Wizz Air and Tarom.
