Jan 13, 2016 (newstodate): Marked by the deteriorating political situation in Europe, 2015 was certainly not a booming year for airBaltic Cargo.
The carrier generated a total volume of 8,490 tonnes of cargo, down about 20 percent compared to 2014.
-Various factors are to blame for the decline in 2015. First of all we have felt the strong and sustained effects from the crisis around Ukraine between the west and Russia that also affected traffic with other markets such as Belarus. In addition, several routes were also cut, or reduced in frequency, says Toms Anderson, airBaltic Head of Cargo.
-On the bright side we did managed to recover in December 2015 that ended with volumes on a par with last year and even exceeded the 1,000 tonnes mark.
-All in all, my hope is that we will deliver at least at 2015-levels in 2016 as well, says Mr Anderson.
