Jan 15, 2016 (newstodate): According to official statistics published on Avinor's website, Norway's Oslo Airport has consistently seen its cargo volumes declining through 2015.
According to the latest figures published, comprising the period up to and including October 2015, a total of 9,229 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport in October, a decline by 11.7 percent, y-o-y, bringing totals in January-October 2015 to 103.464 tonnes, also a decline by 2.6 percent.
This may, however, not be correct.
-We have experienced problems with the accuracy and timely reporting on volumes by some parties in the cargo business forming the basis of the monthly figures, so a decision was made to suspend the publication of cargo figures on Avinor's website from November 2015, pending a thorough audit of the data, says Torolf Holte, Avinor Head of statistics, forecasting and analysis.
-We now expect to be able to provide a full and valid presentation of cargo volumes through Oslo Airport in 2015 within only a few days, but it may be safe to state that there has been absolutely no decline in cargo at OSL in 2015, contrary to the picture earlier presented, says Mr Holte.
