Jan 27, 2016 (newstodate): The airfreight industry at Sweden's Stockholm Airport has long benefited from a joint and efficient security entry point for all cargo terminals. But that period is over.
Since January 1, 2016, the joint security hub, called Checkpoint Cargo, has been closed by the Swedish authority, Transportstyrelsen, due to alleged lack of compliance with pertinent EU airport security standards.
From the start of this year, then, each cargo terminal has been forced to implement an own security control post entailing rising costs for all.
Talks are, however, now being conducted with the Swedish authorities to find an acceptable solution to the issue allowing for the re-establishment of a common Checkpoint Cargo at Stockholm Airport.
