Jan 14, 2016 (newstodate): At Latvia's Riga Airport, 2015 ended with an all-year decline in total cargo volumes by 42.8 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 18,863 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, including 11,424 tonnes of cargo and 7,438 tonnes of mail.
In the preceding year 2014, the airport handled a total of 32,983 tonnes, a decline by 38.4 percent, compared to 2013 that set an all-time high due to the massive influx of cargo destined for the ISAF forces in Afghanistan.
With this traffic gone, the situation at Riga Airport has returned to normal, with the national carrier airBaltic as the main generator of air cargo.
