Jan 12, 2016 (newstodate): As hopes in Iran are rising for sanctions to be lifted soon, latest figures from the country's civil aviation authority seem to confirm growth trends in aviation.
According to the country's Civil Aviation Organization air traffic has risen during the latest 9-month period according to the Iranian calendar, 21 March 21 December 2015.
Passenger volumes on flights by Iranian carrier increased by four percent, y-o-y, to 32,639,000, and the number of flight operations at Iranian airports also increased by four percent to 273,322 movements.
As for cargo, volumes increased by three percent, y-o-y, to a total of 342,000 tonnes over the period.
Once the western sanctions are lifted in accordance with the agreement between Iran and the 5+1 Group, the country is expected to launch a spectacular campaign for acquisition of new commercial aircraft to replace its current fleet of primarily outdated aircraft.
