Jan 19, 2016 (newstodate): Iceland's Keflavik Airport saw a healthy increase in its cargo volumes in 2015.
A total of 44,641 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport - an increase by 5.3 percent, y-o-y.
Included in the totals were 30,313 tonnes of imports that were up by 4.8 percent, y-o-y, while exports totaling 14,328 tonnes grew at a faster pace, 6.4 percent.
The real boom was seen in the airport's passenger volumes that were up by no less than 22.1 percent, y-o-y, to 5.6 mio in 2015, driving the need for expansion of the infrastructure, including a new runway as contained in the Masterplan.
