Jan 11, 2016 (newstodate): Finnair's total cargo volumes were down 7.3 percent, y-o-y, in December 2015, to 10,492 tonnes.
Contributing to the drop were loads on the Asian lanes, down 0.6 percent to 6,365 tonnes, but loads on the European traffic also fell 3.5 percent to 1,836 tonnes.
1,423 tonnes were carried on freighters, down 35 percent as Finnair ceased own freighter traffic from the turn of the year 2014/15, now sharing capacity with BA on a freighter, operated by DHL, twice-weekly between Helsinki and London as well as contracting DHL to provide cargo uplift between Helsinki and Brussels, also operated two times weekly.
In December, the cargo capacity in scheduled traffic measured in Available Tonne Kilometres grew by 4.2 per cent, while Revenue Tonne Kilometres remained unchanged year on year.
In January-December 2015, the carrier generated a total of 130,697 tonnes of cargo, down 12,4 percent, y-o-y, managing only a slight increase by 0.2 percent, y-o-y, in the crucial Asian volumes landing at 82,202 tonnes.
