Jan 06, 2016 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport has released its statistics on cargo volumes during the first nine months of 2015, showing a decrease by six percent, y-o-y.
A total of 292,970 tonnes of cargo was handled during the period that saw a decline first of all in the airport's crucial transfer cargo that accounted for 191,821 tonnes, down 8.2 percent, y-o-y.
34,938 tonnes of import cargo arrived at CPH, down 4.8 percent, while the export volumes reached 48,533 tonnes after increasing 2.6 percent.
According to the airport, the drop transfer cargo volumes in 2015 was caused primarily by strikes in the US, the suspension of China Cargo Airlines' operations at Copenhagen Airport, as well as a drop in DHL's transfer cargo as the company launched direct flights to Billund Airport instead of transferring the cargo to and from this destination via Copenhagen Airport.
