Jan 12, 2016 (newstodate): Airbus remains tight-lipped about the rumored acquisition by the Japanese carrier ANA of three Airbus A380 aircraft.
But at today's press conference, the company has at least now officially confirmed that it did indeed land an order for three such aircraft "from an unidentified customer" in December 2015 - and the identity of the coming new A380 operator is probably known at least by Airbus..
Airbus has thus been able to exit 2015 with a sale of the large aircraft that was running dry of new orders for two years.
On the positive side, Airbus now also claims that the A380 program has thus managed to reach a break-even for the very first time.
With this latest customer, Airbus has booked orders for a total of 320 Airbus A380 aircraft, with Emirates remaining the single largest customer with orders for delivery of 140 aircraft, 71 have by now been put into operation.
