Jan 05, 2016 (newstodate): Given one years' extra leniency, all airlines in Kazakhstan are required to undergo, and pass, IOSA certification before the end of 2016.
So far only two airlines, Air Astana and SCAT, have successfully passed the IOSA certification process which is a/o a prerequisite for signing interline agreement with other carriers as well as serving as a guarantee for adherence to all safety, technical, operational and managerial requirements.
The IOSA certification of Kazakhstan's airlines will also be a precondition for the country to be lifted off the EU Black list.
In the latest edition of the EU Black List, issued in December 2015, the country's leading carrier, Air Astana was lifted off the list where it has been placed since 2009.
Air Astana is now free to operate into EU airports with all aircraft in its fleet and may open flights on new routes into EU markets.
All 19 other Kazakh air carriers certified by the authorities with responsibility for regulatory oversight of Kazakhstan remain, however, on the list.
