Sep 28, 2015 (newstodate): Ukraine is now to take the conflict with Russia to new heights.
The Ukrainian state has announced that it will not grant permission to Russian airlines to perform flights to Ukrainian airports after the start of this year's winter flight schedule from October 25, 2015.
The ban will hit Russian airlines including Aeroflot and Transaero as well as all Russian aircraft through Ukrainian airspace carrying military equipment and troops.
While still not announced, the ban may be expanded to comprise also flights by Russian carriers through Ukrainian airspace.
If this is actually enforced, commercial flights by Russian carriers to for instance Moldova would heavily impact on the country's provision of air services by several Russian carriers including Aeroflot, S7, Ural Airlines, UTair and VIM-Avia that would be required to change to flying long diversion routes.
