Sep 21, 2015 (newstodate): The British carrier and capacity provider Flybe is taking delivery of a total of five ATR 72-600 aircraft to be based in Scandinavia.
The carrier will be operating flights from Sweden on the SAS network with the new aircraft, delivered on a lease contract with the leasing firm Avation PLC.
The six-year contract between the two carriers was signed in November 2014, comprising flights on routes and frequencies from Arlanda where SAS sees a need for smaller aircraft to match customer demand.
SAS has till now signed contracts with six capacity providers to support its network operations.
Earlier, contracts have been landed with other operators including Flybe, Jet Time, Cimber, Braathens Regional and Blue1.
It remains to be seen what the future of the SAS-owned Finnish subsidiary Blue1 will be after the airline phases out its last remaining Boeing 717 aircraft.
