Sep 22, 2015 (newstodate): Competition between Iceland's two international airlines will continue to build up in 2016.
On flights between Iceland and Canada WOW Air will now compete head-on with Icelandair on the route from Keflavik to Montreal to be opened on May 12, 2016 - one week earlier than Icelandair that will start its flights on May 19, 2016.
Both WOW Air and Icelandair will be offering four weekly rotations rotations on the route.
Starting from May 19, 2016, WOW Air will also launch flights from Keflavik to Toronto, a destination served by Icelandair for seven years as the only provider.
Icelandair first started seasonal flights to Toronto from summer 2008, following the signing of a new air services agreement with Canada opening up the skies between the two markets for both passenger and cargo flights.
Icelandair also operates scheduled flights from Keflavik to Edmonton, Halifax and Vancouver in Canada.
With the addition of these new flights to Montreal and Toronto, the two carriers will be offering a total of 30 flights per week between Iceland and Canada.
