Sep 09, 2015 (newstodate): Stavanger, Norway's center for oil&gas industries, has lost part of its attraction as a destinations as the heat on the global oil and energy sectors is cooling off.
As a consequence Lufthansa is to stop flights on the route between Frankfurt and Stavanger from October 24, 2015.
The carrier is currently serving the route with up to three daily rotations using Cityline CRJ900 aircraft.
Earlier Air France also stopped its flights on the route between PAris and Stavanger.
Lufthansa Cargo, however, confirms that it has no plans for stopping its weekly call at Stavanger Airport.
Since November 8, 2014, Lufthansa Cargo has been a weekly Boeing 777F freighter flying in to Stavanger from Houston with imports, and continuing to Frankfurt after lifting Norwegian exports destined for destinations on the carrier's global network via Frankfurt Airport.
