Sep 15, 2015 (newstodate): While Norway's Stavanger Airport is seeing several of its passenger airlines backing down due to the ebb in the global oil industries, cargo volumes are still growing in 2015.
Behind the cargo growth is Lufthansa Cargo's weekly Boeing 777F freighter rotation on the route from since November 8, 2014, from Houston continuing to Frankfurt via Stavanger, connecting the two leading off-shore oil & gas destinations in the USA and Norway as well as offering export capacity in the Norwegian market on the carrier's network from Frankfurt.
In August 2015, Stavanger Airport thus handled a total of 570 tonnes of cargo and mail, domestic and international, which was up 4.8 percent, y-o-y.
Of the total volume 348 tonnes was international cargo that increased by 82.1 percent compared to August 2014.
During January-August 2015 the airport's total cargo and mail volumes were up 14,1 percent to 4,916 tonnes including international cargo that increased by 77.8 percent to 3,009 tonnes.
